With the NBA trade deadline less than 48 hours away, trade speculation around the league is reaching a fever pitch, especially following the massive deal between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, which saw Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis swapped, along with additional pieces and draft picks.

Amidst the growing rumors on Tuesday about the Golden State Warriors pursuing a reunion with Kevin Durant, the Suns’ latest announcement ahead of their game Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder raised eyebrows.

Durant was downgraded to doubtful for the matchup with an ankle injury, which he aggravated during their overtime game against the Portland Trail Blazers. However, that hasn’t stopped the speculation from swirling.

Fans’ reactions to the news suggest that Durant might be moved by Thursday, even though it still seems like a long shot. Yet, after the Doncic-for-Davis swap, it’s clear that nothing can be ruled out.

Nonetheless, the Suns seem to be high on the idea of making a move for Jimmy Butler, hoping to pair him with Durant and Devin Booker. This, in turn, makes trading Durant appear somewhat unlikely, at least in the grand scheme of things.

However, with the Suns sitting at just 25-24 overall and occupying the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference, their situation remains precarious. After losing back-to-back games to the 21-29 Portland Trail Blazers, the pressure is mounting.

As a result, there’s still the possibility that a team like the Warriors or Mavericks could present an offer that the Suns can’t refuse, leading them to make a move before Thursday’s deadline.
