“He Hasn’t Missed A Game In Three Seasons”: Green Bay Packers Linked To Cincinnati Bengals Star Player For Trade This Offseason
The Green Bay Packers will be looking to potentially make a trade for a pass rusher this offseason. On Monday, it was announced that Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has requested a trade.
He isn’t the only star defensive player who could be on the move this offseason. Another star defensive player who could be on the move this offseason is Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson. He has one year remaining on his contract and is 30 years old.
Dairylandexpress.com Writer Brian Sampson Thinks That Cincinnati Bengals Defensive End Trey Hendrickson Should Be On the Green Bay Packers Trade Board This Offseason
There will be players that the Green Bay Packers will want to trade for this NFL offseason. Dairylandexpress.com writer Brian Sampson thinks that one of the big fish on the market for Green Bay to potentially trade for this offseason is Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson.
The Packers will not be the only team who will be interested in the star defensive lineman. Sampson said:
“Gutekunst prefers acquiring players before their peak, not paying for past production. Trey Hendrickson doesn’t exactly fit that model. At 30 years old, he’s a little older than the type of player Green Bay usually targets. But at some point, production speaks louder than age.
Hendrickson has been an absolute wrecking ball over the last few years. He’s coming off a 17.5-sack season—his second straight—and has put up at least 13.5 sacks in four of the last five years. He hasn’t missed a game in three seasons.
Would the Bengals move him? Maybe.
He’s in the final year of his contract and would need a new deal upon arrival. But if Gutekunst can talk himself into Hendrickson having a couple of elite years left, this is the kind of veteran acquisition that could put the Packers’ pass rush over the top.”
Trey Hendrickson would no doubt be the defensive lineman on the Green Bay Packers immediately. Green Bay lacked a pass-rush ability a season ago. Rashan Gary led the team in sacks with 7.5 sacks.
Hendrickson Could Be a Cheaper Option Than Myles Garrett
With Hendrickson having one year left on his contract, trading for him could be a cheaper option for general manager Brian Gutekunst than trading for Myles Garrett. Garrett will have two more years left on his contract compared to only one for Hendrickson.
However, if Brian Gutekunst is serious about making the Green Bay Packers a Super Bowl contender for the 2025 NFL season, he is going to have to put his chips on the table no matter what. There will be suitors for Trey Hendrickson and Myles Garrett this offseason. One of the teams that the Green Bay Packers will have to outbid for a pass rusher this offseason is NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions.
