Yankees media personality giving Red Sox fans fuel with 2025 prediction

The Red Sox have made some big moves this offseason to stay competitive in the tough AL East, and it sounds like fans of their biggest rival know it.

On the Talkin’ Yanks podcast, media personality and Yankees fan Jomboy said that he’s scared of the Red Sox in 2025. He noted that, after years of talking about improving the pitching staff, the Sox actually went out and did it this year. He also guessed that Boston would add another impact bat, perhaps either Alex Bregman or Nolan Arenado.

Even the faces of Yankees fandom are scared of the 2025 Red Sox

It’s always surprising to hear Yankee fans speak highly of the Red Sox, especially when Red Sox fans themselves haven’t even been thrilled with the offseason. The pitching has definitely improved, with the acquisitions of Garrett Crochet, Walker Buehler, and Patrick Sandoval.

However, Boston hasn’t been able to add an impact right-handed bat, something they desperately lack in the lineup, and none of those pitchers are silver bullets. Even Crochet, who is supremely talented, has had injury concerns and has never thrown 150 innings in a season. It doesn’t feel like this team is a contender to win the division, not with the Yankees and Orioles being as strong as they are.

The podcasters seemed sure, however, that another move was on the way, hinting at Bregman and Arenado as potential options at third base. In fact, they said that the scariest part was that the Red Sox might not be done. Arenado has said he’d be willing to waive his no-trade clause to join the Red Sox, but negotiations seem to have stalled lately. But the odds of Bregman coming to Boston seem to have improved recently, with the New York Post‘s Jon Heyman naming them as the favorites.

One can only hope that Jomboy is right and that the Red Sox aren’t done. Bregman, for instance, would be a huge boost to the lineup both offensively and defensively, as he’d be a righty in a lefty-heavy lineup and the Sox could move Devers to first. And, as an added bonus, he’s not exactly popular among Yankee fans, and he could play a villain role in Boston.
