Red Sox Trade Idea Would Land 2-Time Silver Slugger Winner in 3-Player Swap

The Toronto Blue Jays are trying to negotiate a lucrative long-term extension with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. They’re running out of time since the homegrown slugger has set the start of spring training as his deadline to sign a new deal.

If it doesn’t happen, one would imagine the Blue Jays will at least see what they could get for Guerrero on the trade market. Could the Boston Red Sox be a realistic trade partner?

Guerrero  of playing for Boston in the past.  that the right-handed slugger wants to team up with third baseman Rafael Devers.

If Boston could land the two-time Silver Slugger Award winner before he hits free agency next winter, what could a trade look like? the following hypothetical swap:

    – Red Sox receive: first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

    – Blue Jays receive: shortstop Franklin Arias and right-handed pitcher Luis Perales

“The (Red Sox) should have the money for it, and Guerrero probably wouldn’t need to be sold on Fenway Park. He has a 1.054 OPS there, compared to a .823 OPS at the Rogers Centre,” Rymer wrote.

“As fun as it is to imagine a Guerrero-for-Triston Casas swap, the two players have mismatched trade values. It’s also hard to fathom the Red Sox being OK with sending such a dangerous young hitter to a division rival.”

Arias (fourth) and Perales (seventh) are both top-10 prospects in Boston’s system, according to MLB.com. Guerrero is set to make $28.5 million in 2025,  his market value for a long-term deal at 12 years and $427 million.
