NBA Insider Reveals Troublesome News Regarding Popular Warriors Trade Target
The Golden State Warriors have a little less than three weeks to escape the fate of being ‘mid’ during this 2024-25 NBA season. With the NBA Trade Deadline looming on Feb. 6, it would be stunning to see the organization stand pat and not make some sort of maneuver to improve the roster.
The Warriors are fighting for their playoff lives. There is still a lot of season left to be played, but Golden State’s record of 20-20 does not inspire confidence. The Warriors are currently sitting in the 11th seed of the Western Conference.
One of the primary needs that is clear as day to anyone watching Warriors basketball is the need for reliable secondary scoring behind Stephen Curry. Brooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson has been identified, on multiple occasions, as a name that could help fix some of the problems in Golden State.
The Nets have already made two significant trades this season, dealing Dorian Finney-Smith and Dennis Schroder away, in an effort to position themselves better for the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft. However, despite being included in a plethora of trade rumors, Johnson may not be as readily available as his former teammates.
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported the same burning desire to move Johnson does not exist in Brooklyn.
“The Nets, though, have indicated to rival teams that they aren’t as determined to move Johnson as they were to ship out Dennis Schröder and Dorian Finney-Smith. … Johnson, on the other hand, has two seasons left on his four-year, $94 million contract, which descends in salary to $20.5 million for 2025-26.
Brooklyn has thus maintained a high asking price for Johnson. The Nets have sought as many as two first-round picks packaged with a young player in conversations with certain teams, sources say. And if Brooklyn doesn’t find a deal to its liking, it’s not hard to imagine Johnson remaining a Net despite the constant news media speculation about his future and all the genuine interest from around the league.”-Jake Fischer
A lot of recent reports have indicated that Golden State is primarily seeking help in its frontcourt. Whatever the solution is to help their 20th-ranked offense, they need to find it sooner rather than later.
