The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to have a healthy and improved starting rotation in 2025. To upgrade at other positions, they could trade away some of their depth pieces.

The Dodgers signed Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million deal. He will join Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani and Dustin May in the rotation. Not to mention, potentially Clayton Kershaw and Roki Sasaki as well. FanSided’s Michael McDermott suggested the Dodgers could trade Bobby Miller to land an upgrade over James Outman.

“The Dodgers have plenty of pitching depth, necessitated by the fact their rotation has been decimated with injuries the past two seasons,” wrote McDermott. “If they ultimately prevail in their pursuit of Sasaki, they could deal a young starter to shore up some depth concerns. They could look to deal one of Landon Knack, Nick Frasso, Justin Wrobleski or Bobby Miller for a major league ready prospect in the outfield who has more options remaining than Outman.”

Miller showed promise as a rookie, pitching to a 3.76 ERA in 22 starts. However, last season he made 13 starts with an 8.52 ERA. Outman played in 151 games for the Dodgers in 2023 and finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. However, last season he failed to take a leap and played in just 53 games with a .147 average.

The Dodgers could get a solid return for Miller from a team willing to take a flyer on him. They could easily land a fourth outfield option that would be an upgrade over Outman.
