Despite his commitments with FOX, NFL legend Tom Brady is reportedly set to play a significant role in the Las Vegas Raiders’ rebuild. The seven-time Super Bowl champion acquired a 10 per cent stake in the Raiders in May 2023 after striking a deal with Mark Davis.

The team hopes that Brady’s extensive NFL knowledge and connections can help them mount a Super Bowl challenge. However, immediate issues need addressing for the Raiders, who currently have a disappointing 4-12 record, with head coach Antonio Pierce feeling the heat.

Before approving Brady’s part-ownership, Raiders owner Davis and FOX Sports CEO Eric Shanks discussed his dual roles, given Brady’s 10-year, $375million contract with the network.

Consequently, Brady’s broadcasting career has seen him limit his interview production and work to avoid conflicts of interest and prevent giving the Raiders an unfair advantage by privately speaking with players or visiting team bases to gather information.

Amid speculation about Pierce’s future after only becoming the full-time head coach this past offseason, Brady seems to be central to Davis’ plans.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport revealed that Brady is set to play a significant role in the Raiders’ rebuild, despite not having been in a similar position as a player to the current issues facing Las Vegas.

“Raiders owner Mark Davis was fired up in the locker room after his team snapped a ten-game losing streak last week. But my understanding based on conversations with people around the league is that Antonio Pierce’s future as head coach remains in serious doubt,” Rapoport said.

“Davis has said only that he will evaluate everything after the season. His new minority owner Tom Brady has never been a part of anything like 3-12 and has been speaking with various people about how to get it fixed.

“Also the Raiders’ biggest star player Maxx Crosby, who has said he wants to be a Raider for life, also wants to win and is going to be watching very closely to see what steps they take to make that happen. Of course, Brady’s got a lot of connections around the league, including his former teammate Mike Vrabel, who is going to be a hot head coaching candidate this cycle.”

Davis previously said that Brady had an ‘undefined’ role within the Raiders. “He communicates quite often [with the ownership group], but it’s not a day-to-day role. His role is undefined right now.”

However, Brady’s role now may have become clear amid the Raiders also looking for a quarterback as a priority ahead of next season.

“He’s competitive and he’s very thorough in everything he does,” Davis added on what Brady will bring to the Raiders’ decision-making. “He has an innate way of communicating that other people can understand. I am excited and really grateful that he’s part of the Raiders organization.”
