Shedeur Sanders defends controversial Giants star from criticism and keeps giving hints about joining NFL team
The Colorado quarterback is expected to be a Top 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Football season is nearing its end, with the college regular season done and the NFL playoffs nearing. As we enter the final couple of weeks of the year, fans of many NFL teams are already rooting for better draft pick positioning. The 2025 NFL Draft isn’t quite the jackpot that many other drafts have appeared to be, especially when it comes to the quarterbacks, but there are at least two signal-callers who are held in high regard.
and Miami’s Cam Ward are the consensus top two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. In fact, if you look at mock drafts floating around right now, you’ll likely see that they are the only two QBs expected to go in the first round. The two teams that get the chance to draft either one? The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants. Both franchises need quarterbacks, so it’s a likely scenario if they continue to lose games.
Sanders, in particular, has already gotten Giants fans dreaming by showing up in New York last week and even playing catch with Giants rookie sensation Malik Nabers. On the most recent episode of his podcast, Sanders came out to defend Nabers from criticism about him being “selfish”.
I feel like the media tries to portray him as the big selfish guy. I don’t think that’s what it is. He wants to win, and when you’re not doing that week after week, you’re not getting the ball. And that’s every receiver. Travis (Hunter) gets mad when he doesn’t get the ball. Davante (Adams) gets mad, all these different guys. You just have to know how to deal with different types of receivers.
Sanders might be signaling that he would have no trouble getting the ball to Nabers, which hasn’t been a problem with at Colorado. Sanders also mentioned that his meet-up with Nabers wasn’t planned at all. In fact, it was Nabers who randomly showed up.
“Malik Nabers pulled up on me. We were at the jeweler, and he just pulled up. We were just sitting there, talking about life, about everything. We went outside and started throwing a ball.”
Giants hold 1st pick in 2025 NFL Draft, but it’s likely to change
This is how the current Top 5 would shake out if the NFL season ended today.
- New York Giants
- Las Vegas Raiders
- New England Patriots
- Carolina Panthers
- Tennessee Titans
But if you go by projected strength of schedule for the rest of the season, the Raiders would actually be ahead of the Giants, while the Jacksonville Jaguars would be in 4th ahead of the Panthers and Titans.
There have already been plenty of rumors about Sanders preferring the Raiders, and they certainly have interest in him. But playing in a massive market like New York will surely appeal to Sanders. Deion Sanders has mentioned Shedeur will only go where he wants to, but it sounds like he’s fine with either the Raiders or Giants.
