Stephen Curry powers Warriors to fifth straight win after toppling Jayson Tatum, Celtics

    –

In a 2022 NBA Finals rematch, Stephen Curry hands Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics their first home loss of the season. The Golden State Warriors win their first five road games for the first time since 2016.

Stephen Curry watched his Golden State Warriors teammates do damage first before weaving his endgame magic against the reigning champion Boston Celtics.

Curry fired 10 points in the fourth and led a gutsy 118-112 Warriors road win against the Celtics in an early match-up of two title contenders.

The superstar guard also scored 21 of his season-high 27 markers in the second half, providing most of his damage in the final quarter when the Celtics were on the verge of completing a comeback win.

Curry, who also finished with seven rebounds and nine assists, also passed Charles Barkley for the number 30 all time in the NBA scoring list. Golden State, the top team in terms of bench points, scored 49 compared to the Celtics’ 24.

Andrew Wiggins and Buddy Hield each scored 16 points apiece as the Warriors improved to a 7-1, standing solo second in the West behind the OKC Thunder.

In a thrilling finish, Kevon Looney grabbed two crucial rebounds and scored on a couple of key baskets that gave the Warriors a four-point cushion on separate occasions.

Hield then connected on a clutch triple with 47 seconds left that put the Warriors on a sizeable 111-104 lead.

Golden State (7-1) eventually would hold the lead en route to their fifth straight win and fifth successive victory on the road.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum finished with 32 points, including 17 alone in the third frame to pace the Celtics, who lost for the first time at home this season.

Derrick White added 26 markers, six rebounds, and seven threes while Payton Pritchard contributed 16 off the bench.

Neemias Queta, who started in place of the still injured Jaylen Brown (hip flexor strain), added 14.

After scoring just 41 points in the first half, Boston dropped 40 markers alone in the third period and even led by seven points in the final frame.

The Celtics will try to bounce back when they face the Brooklyn Nets while the Warriors will continue their road trip when they visit the league-leading Cleveland Cavaliers next.
