- The New York Yankees Haven’t Faired Well In Their Recent ALCS Trips
The New York Yankees are set to return to the ALCS for the fifth time since their last World Series title. The Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS and will wait to find out their opponent ahead of Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Monday. The team has made it to the ALCS five times since their last World Series title in 2009. The team has gone 0-5 in those series.
The Yankees reached the ALCS in 2022 after beating the Cleveland Guardians in the first round of the postseason. The Bronx Bombers were swept by the eventual champion Houston Astros.
The Yankees and Astros met in the 2019 ALCS as well. The Bronx Bombers took a 1-0 lead in the series but then dropped Game 2 in extra innings. The Astros went on to take a 3-1 series lead before the Yankees rebounded with a Game 5 win. The Astors then punched their ticket to the World Series in dramatic fashion as Jose Altuve hit a walk-off home run off of Aroldis Chapman in Game 6.
