Raiders Make Davante Adams Announcement as Trade Rumors Swirl
Davante Adams has been in the news quite a bit as of late, and if often hasn’t been for great reasons. Whether it be the hamstring injury that’s keeping him off the field, or his request to be traded off the Las Vegas Raiders, it hasn’t been a very good start to the season for Adams.
Adams posted some big numbers in the first three games of the season for the Raiders (18 receptions, 209 yards, one touchdown), but a hamstring injury and tensions brewing between him and the team have kept him off the field the past two weeks.
Ahead of Las Vegas’ Week 6 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Adams remained off the practice field for the Raiders, even though his hamstring is reportedly close to being fully healed. Sure enough, the team ruled Adams out for their upcoming game against the Steelers, further fueling rumors that a trade is inevitable.
While Antonio Pierce noted that Adams is still a Raider and that he will play when he’s fully healthy earlier this week, all signs are pointing towards the team trading their star wide receiver at some point in the near future.
Las Vegas is reportedly looking for a second-round pick in exchange for Adams, with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints being two of the top teams he hopes to land with should he end up getting dealt.
In Adams’ absence, Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, and Brock Bowers will be tasked with leading the way for Las Vegas in the passing game, as they will be turning to Aidan O’Connell against the Steelers after Pierce opted to send Gardner Minshew to the bench.
This will be the third straight game Adams has missed, and there’s no doubt the offense is struggling without him. The Raiders will take on the Steelers at 4:05 PM EST on Sunday as they look to snap their current three-game losing streak.
