In 2024, athlete social-media posts are monitored constantly by fans. Certain NFL stars like to have a little fun with it, posting cryptic messages that result in a variety of conspiracy theories.
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is the latest football sensation to send the internet into speculation mode.
It’s been a season of highs and lows in Miami. The 2024 season started with Hill being detained hours ahead of the season opener for the Dolphins, leading to it being the center of the news for days. Then, in Week 2, QB Tua Tagovailoa suffered another concussion, knocking him out for the foreseeable future.
Now, Hill is posting tweets about potential trade news, which is sitting exactly as you would expect with Dolphins fans.

Here’s more to know about his post and why he’s thrown himself into the trade rumors.
Tyreek hill tweet, explained
The speculation about a Hill trade was sparked by a tweet from Hill. The Dolphins wide receiver posted about receiving “exciting” trade news, but he did not give any other details.
The Dolphins may be operating at the trade deadline, but Hill is not expected to be in those conversations. Miami just restructured Hill’s contract to pay him $90 million over the next three years, making him one of the highest-paid receivers in the league.
The more likely topic that Hill was discussing was the Davante Adams news. The Raiders wide receiver reportedly asked to be traded from the organization, putting a massive star on the trade market. It’s still early in the season, but teams already have to make decisions about trades with the deadline looming a month ahead.

Is Tyreek Hill being traded?
Hill is not anticipated to be a name available on the trade market, considering the reworked contract he just had with the Miami football club.
The Dolphins could be active at the deadline. If there’s a club potentially in the mix to add a quarterback, it’s Miami. Neither Skylar Thompson or Tyler Huntley have grabbed a hold of the reins as QB1 in Tagovailoa’s absence, so bringing in a reclamation project on a cheap deal to try out for the rest of the year could be worth it.
With that said, that doesn’t mean things can’t change with Hill. With uncertainty at the quarterback position going forward, they could move the “Cheetah” if the season is slipping away. Crazier things have happened in football.

Tyreek Hill contract details
Hill was already one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL after he signed a massive four-year, $120 million deal in 2022 with the Dolphins. His $30 million AAV was the highest for a receiver in NFL history at the time.
Miami doubled down on its electrifying speedster this offseason, as Hill and the Dolphins agreed to a restructured contract that gives the All-Pro $90 million over three years, including $65 million in guaranteed money.
The adjusted deal gives him a total of $106.5 million guaranteed — the most guaranteed money for a WR in NFL history without adding years to a deal.
