Kyle Anderson Gives Warriors Fans Hope
Once you hit your 30s, peace of mind is an essential gift. The Golden State Warriors received peace when they acquired Kyle Anderson from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a sign-and-trade deal with Buddy Hield. After a stressful 2023-24 season, the Warriors desperately need a serene moment to breathe. Ironically, it’s Anderson’s birthday, and to celebrate, we look at what the forward offers the Warriors.
Firstly, Anderson could become a focal part of the Warriors, especially in the playoffs. Despite not having efficient shooting splits, he’s a quality NBA defender with the proof to match. Anderson guarded Luka Doncic in the 2024 Western Conference to much success. During the series’ first four games, Anderson held Doncic to 30 percent shooting from the field.
For a team that finished 15th in defensive rating, Anderson gives the Warriors the gift of reliability in the playoffs.
Although Anderon can’t shoot, he has moments of brilliance on offense. But don’t fret, Warriors fans. He’s worked on his shooting form in the offseason. Hopefully, such dedication will show itself during the 2024-25 campaign, unlike the myriad of Ben Simmons videos.
Another reason to celebrate Anderson is his contract. Considering Golden State’s luxury tax situation, it’s commendable for Mike Dunleavy Jr. to acquire such a talent with little to no consequence to the salary books.
Anderson is on a three-year, $27.6 million deal. However, one thing you can’t monetize is Anderson’s will and dedication. According to Chris Finch, the Timberwolves’ head coach, Anderson was the team’s “connective tissue.”
With the season approaching, the Warriors can take solace in having such a player in Anderson.
