The NFL Is Officially Investigating The New Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Deshaun Watson – Gridiron Heroics
The NFL is now looking into a new lawsuit against the Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson, who was the worst starting quarterback in week 1, is now facing a new disturbing alleged sexual assault lawsuit.
The NFL has now been reported to be looking into these allegations and will certainly take action.
Deshaun Watson Facing New Sexual Assault Lawsuit
On Monday of this week, there was a lawsuit filed against Watson that accused him of disturbing sexual assault and battery. As discussed by Gridiron Heroics:
As discussed on Gridiron Heroics previously, Watson is facing a new charge of sexual battery and assault. The details are incredibly disturbing per Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. This entire alleged assault is eerily similar to the 20-plus that he faced back in 2021, and the NFL could deal him a very serious suspension because of it.
Watson faced over a year out of the league previously, and could certainly be dealt serious punishment by the league for this new lawsuit. Watson has, long ago, run out of any type of trust regarding these matters, and because of what transpired in 2021, he could easily face punishment by the league for this.
Now, the league is looking into this new lawsuit, and while It may take time to get all the facts, Watson could face punishment. If he does get a suspension due to this new lawsuit, the Browns will have a real opportunity to cut ties with him finally.
NFL Will Conduct An Investigation On Deshaun Watson
In the wake of this new lawsuit that Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported, he also noted that Watson could face punishment from the league under the Personal Conduct Policy.
Both Adam Schefter and Albert Breer reported that the league is reviewing this lawsuit and will be looking into the matter:
Right now, the league isn’t there yet, but spokesman Brian McCarthy told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the NFL is “reviewing the complaint and we will look into the matter under the Personal Conduct Policy.”
As Breer noted, but Schefter did not, is that the league is not considering putting Watson on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, per CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones.
However, if Watson does ultimately get a suspension then it would be possible for the Browns to terminate the rest of the Wtson awful contract. The Browns would certainly jump at that opportunity, as Watson is garnetted money through 2026 with an astronomical hit against the cap for the next two seasons.
Watson faced 20 plus similar chargers to this back in 2021 and has never been a good quarterback since then. For now, Watson is set to suit up in week 2 but he may not be in the NFL for that much longer.
The league is now looking into this new report, and the Browns and Browns’ fans are praying for a suspension to get him off the team once and for all.
