Chiefs would have made same mistake with Kadarius Toney, despite helping them win a Super Bowl
He was a key part of the team’s championship
The Kansas City Chiefs have waived wide receiver Kadarius Toney after failing to find a trade partner and even after all the drama surrounding him and his production in the regular season, he helped them win a Super Bowl by performing in great fashion.
With that said, the team’s general manager, Brett Veach wouldn’t change anything in the process from when they got him via trade up until the moment they cut him with less than two weeks from the start of the regular season.
The wide receiver arrived in 2022, after passing through the New York Giants in a trade of third and sixth round selections. Toney appeared in 20 regular season games with the Chiefs and started in five having a huge impact on a title run.

During his time with the Chiefs, posting 430 yards and a touchdown; although he did not participate in the last seven matches of the 2023 campaign, including the victory in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers.
Toney was a key player in Super Bowl LVII in which the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles; he caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt 65 yards down the stretch of the game.
“I don’t think we’re sitting here going for a third straight Super Bowl [championship] had we not made that trade,” Veach said. “So, from that standpoint, we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat,” despite that fact he did not had the number they thought he would put up in 2023.
