BBC pundit stunned by ‘stupid’ Peter Haring incident in Hearts 2-1 loss v Rangers, he ‘cost the team’
Hearts player Peter Haring was the reason his club lost to Rangers at Ibrox, according to BBC pundit Richard Foster.
The midfielder conceded a penalty in the 89th minute of the Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox on Sunday (29 October).
Defender James Tavernier netted from the spot to make the score 1-1, with striker Danilo grabbing a winner four minutes later.
“Peter Haring will not want to go back into that dressing room,” Foster said live on BBC Sportscene (5.07pm, 29 October), as quoted by BBC Sport.
“He just grabbed Connor Goldson’s shirt for the penalty, it is so stupid from him and it has cost the team.”
It was a big error from the Hearts man, with his club heading for a memorable win at Ibrox right up until the closing minutes.
But it wasn’t meant to be, with Haring’s foul on Goldson kickstarting a dramatic turnaround from the hosts. Tavernier certainly held his nerve from the spot, with the Gers captain having missed a penalty earlier in the match.
And he then stepped up in the dying seconds to produce a superb assist for Danilo, who nodded home to make his best memory in a Rangers shirt so far
New manager Philippe Clement won’t exactly be thrilled with the display, but he will be delighted with the result. The three points mean the Ibrox club are now just five points behind league leaders and fierce rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table after their 10 matches.
The Bhoys slipped up on Saturday (28 October) as they were held to a goalless draw away to Edinburgh side Hibernian.
