Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
Sunderland star Jack Clarke has once again been linked to Crystal Palace following his great start to the season. This comes despite a failed bid over the summer.
Palace have joined the race for Clarke’s signature with Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley and Brentford all showing interest.
There were reports from Fabrizio Romano which suggested that the Eagles had submitted a bid for the winger in the summer window.
Despite this, the former Tottenham Hotspur man remained with the Black Cats as they reportedly looked to negotiate a new contract.
Why Palace want Clarke
The Sunderland star had a great season last time out and has gone on to have a stellar start to this campaign.
In the 2022/23 season, he registered nine goals and 12 assists as Tony Mowbray’s side was defeated by Luton Town in the playoffs.
MORE PALACE STORIES
So far this season he has excelled with seven goals in 11 Championship games. This output has seen the youngster win the Player of the Month award.
He would suit Palace, because of his desire to get on the ball and run at the opposition. This paired with his defensive contribution could be great.
Sunderland rejected bids of £10 million in the most recent transfer window. Now there are reports of a clause effecting a deal.
Sell-on clause causing issues
There are reports suggesting that a sell-on clause was included in the contract as Sunderland signed Clarke from Spurs.
This is according to TEAMtalk, who have suggested that the Lilywhites may have a 50% return on any sale.
As a result of this, the Black Cats may demand a higher fee for the winger. This is as they look to make maximum profit for themselves.
With that being said, if a deal in the region of £15 to £20 million can be agreed he would be well worth it.
A young attacker with an eye for goal and great ability on the ball. He could be a perfect addition to the Eagles’ front line.
