Leeds United are a point off third place heading into the October international break.
Leeds United’s promising start to the season continued prior to the international break with a 2-1 win over Bristol City. Joel Piroe was back among the goals as he continues his rich vein of form since making the move to Elland Road.
The Dutch striker has five goals in eight appearances since joining the Whites, making him the joint sixth-highest scorer in the division. Sammie Szmodics, Adam Armstrong and Jack Clarke lead the way with seven goals each in the Championship, but all of them have been at their respective clubs since the start of the season.
The bookmakers have Piroe as the second favourite to win the Championship’s Top Goalscorer award come the end of the season, with Leeds also expected to be competing at the top end of the division. As things stand, Leicester City and Ipswich Town are the two frontrunners for automatic promotion and that’s reflected in the latest bookmakers odds from Sky Bet.
