Leeds United won 2-1 against Bristol City at Elland Road to tighten their grip on the Championship’s play-off places
Leeds United supporters were delighted to see their side secure back-to-back Championship wins. Admittedly, the Whites again perhaps made hard work of it as they should have clinched the points by a wider margin.
A dominant display saw Leeds have 21 shots on goal, with Daniel James and Joel Piroe netting either side of a Kal Naismith equaliser. The victory moves the Whites up to fifth spot, level on points with Sunderland after their 4-0 defeat to Middlesbrough.
Ipswich Town and Leicester City also won, meaning the deficit between the automatic promotion places remained at nine points. But supporters remained positive as their club continued its impressive turnaround since the September international break.
United have won four out of six over the past month – losing just once – to instil belief about a potential Premier League return. There is also plenty of optimism around Archie Gray, the youngster enjoying a fine breakout campaign.
The 17-year-old played at the unfamiliar position of right-back and did not look out of place, earning an eight in our LeedsLive post-match player ratings. Gray’s performance never went unnoticed by fans, either, who were quick to hail the prospect at the full-time whistle.
One fan also referred to Daniel Farke as “mustard” for orchestrating another home win. This is how supporters reacted once Leeds clinched the victory.
@CoffeeStainer: Grinding out these difficult wins shows the strength of our squad to pull one out of pressure. I see easier wins in the future and some losses/draws out of similar pressure fixtures. #LUFC
@Kurt_Dunne: If our front boys can click and start being more clinical we will smash teams. I thought Kamara was a beast and so was Gray
@Josie Fiend19: Good result but as usual we made it harder than it needed to be. We need to put these games to bed sooner.
@beebo1969: We made hard work of that yet again. But another great three points. Top two relentless at the mo.
Gray and Kamara my standouts
Farke’s the mustard ain’t he? #lufc
@Totally Leeds: Archie Gray is such a talent it’s scary. Playing out of position at 17 and making the most tackles (four) and winning the most duels (12) in the game is incredible. Has the world at his feet #LUFC
