Latest Aston Villa news from Birmingham Live brings you reported interest in Lucas Digne from Italy.
Aston Villa star Lucas Digne is reportedly admired by AS Roma chief Tiago Pinto.
According to II Romanista, it is claimed that the Italy giants are eyeing the opportunity to bring the 30-year-old back to the club given the strong possibility that Leonardo Spinazzola will leave upon the expiration of his contract next summer. Digne had interest from several clubs this past summer.
The report adds that the club have no intention to renew Spinazzola’s contract and are already drawing up potential replacements. Digne, meanwhile, impressed while on loan at Roma during the 2015/16 season.
Pinto, who is working to find a suitable replacement, has apparently “set his sights” on Digne. Having said that, the France international isn’t the only player to feature on the list.
However, Digne’s price tag is not thought to be “exaggerated” which appeals to Roma. The report adds that he could “be ready to return” to Italy after spending several years in England.
However, he is still under contract at Villa Park until 2026 and has played a key role for Unai Emery so far this season.
Speaking about Digne, Emery said: “Lucas Digne, always, we will have the respect of him because he’s very important for us. It’s very important to get him into the attacking third with the quality he has and with the commitment he’s showing us.”
