Latest Aston Villa transfer news as Jhon Duran is said to be attracting plenty of interest ahead of the January window.
Aston Villa will have “no shortage of offers” for striker Jhon Duran in the January transfer window, according to a report.
The 19-year-old has had an excellent start to the season at Villa this term, scoring four goals in eight games. His early form is already catching the attention of other clubs, which could come as a blow to Villa in the new year.
Villa transfer chief Monchi has already “received calls” about the player’s availability, according to Corriere dello Sport. They say manager Unai Emery wants Duran to “continue to mature” at Villa, suggesting any offers may be rejected out of hand.
Speaking after Duran scored in the victory over Crystal Palace earlier this month, Emery made clear that the teenager has a bright future at Villa Park. “Jhon Duran is young but he has potential,” he said.
“We have to work with him, give him chances and minutes to take confidence and build experiences. Every minute he’s playing is important for him and he’s helping us, like with the goal he scored today.”
Villa signed Duran from Chicago Fire in January 2023, in a reported £14.75 million (+£3m) deal. The club did not confirm the length of his contract.
