Atletico Madrid president makes Joao Felix claim amid Aston Villa transfer links.
Latest Aston Villa news from Birmingham Live as an update is provided on the future of Villa-linked Joao Felix.
Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix has been linked with a move to Aston Villa this summer.
Aston Villa-linked Joao Felix “does not want to play” for current side Atletico Madrid according to claims by club president Enrique Cerezo.
Previous reports claimed that Villa were “leading the race” for the former Chelsea loanee this summer. The Portuguese international looks set to leave Atletico on loan again after appearing not to be a part of Diego Simeone’s plans.
He had a disappointing loan spell at Stamford Bridge in the second half of 2022/23 where he scored just four goals. But the 23-year-old has scored 34 goals and provided 18 assists during his time in La Liga.
However, it appears that Felix does not see a future at Madrid with the Atletico president claiming that the most expensive signing in the club’s history (€127.20million) wishes to move elsewhere.

Joao Felix is clear that he does not want to play for Atletico Madrid,” Cerezo told La Sexta. “Whether they want him at other clubs, that’s a different question. But even if he doesn’t want to be, he’s still an Atletico Madrid player.”
