Aston Villa ‘exploring’ surprise Arsenal transfer swoop but will only move on one condition
Latest Aston Villa transfer news as Unai Emery is said to be ‘exploring’ a possible move for Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares amid interest from Nottingham Forest.
Aston Villa are reportedly “exploring” a surprise move for Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares.
Romano tweeted: “After deal collapsed with Forest, Aston Villa are exploring conditions of deal to sign Nuno Tavares from Arsenal.
“Personal terms not discussed yet — as up to the clubs now. Nuno, alternative option to Marcos Acuna deal with Sevilla for Villa.”
Meanwhile, fellow left-back Lucas Digne is reportedly closing in on a departure from Villa. The former Everton man is said to be nearing a move to OGC Nice in France, initially on loan with an option to buy.
The left-back looks set to leave Arsenal before the transfer deadline at the end of the month, with Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old
Now, according to transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, Villa have entered the race for Tavares. It comes amid reports linking Villa with a swoop for Sevilla’ World Cup-winning left-back Marcos Acuna. Romano says Tavares is an “alternative option” to Acuna, making it clear the Argentine defender is the top priority.
